Winter Concert, Sunday, 20th November 2022
Dunblane Cathedral @ 7.30pm

JOHANNES BRAHMS (1833-1897)
Ein deutsches Requiem, Op. 45
Choral Vorspiele, Op. 122

Enjoy haunting lyricism and musical craftsmanship in this evening's music by Brahms. The arrangement of Ein deutsches Requiem for piano duet, being performed by Rosenethe Singers, was made by Brahms himself, and used for the first complete performance in London.

The evening will consist of a musical juxtaposition of Requiem parts and a number of Choral Vorspiele (Choral Preludes) for organ, played by Kevin Duggan, reflecting the 19th century practice for the Requiem to be performed as separate movements.

We are delighted to welcome Colleen Nicoll (Soprano), Stewart Kempster (Baritone), Ingrid Sawers (Piano), and Stephen Armstrong (Piano) for this performance.

In Memory of Robert Black CBE

This will be Rosenethe Singers' first Winter Concert since before the COVID-19 pandemic, on 24th November 2019, when we performed Frank Martin Mass for Double Choir, and J.S. Bach Jesu, meine Freude. It will be a special concert, in memory of one of our own, Robert Black CBE, Scotland's first Auditor General, who passed a year ago. Robert sang with the choir in the early 2000s and returned in 2019. He continued to be a valuable member and friend of the choir throughout the various lockdowns and on-line rehearsals.
